I am trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), a highly effective treatment specifically developed for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). It does not require the reliving or reexperiencing of the traumatic event, except for the short time at the beginning when you inform me briefly of what happened. CPT is a structured therapy that helps you understand and modify the painful thoughts and feelings that have been haunting you since the traumatic event. We'll explore how the traumatic event(s) impacted your beliefs in the areas of trust, power and control, self-esteem, safety, and intimacy (closeness to others). Through this therapy, you will learn how to challenge and adjust these beliefs, gradually decreasing the emotional impact of your memories. Many clients experience significant reductions in symptoms such as nightmares, intrusive thoughts, and intense anxiety, finding a new sense of normalcy and control over their lives. By engaging in this process, you can expect not only to manage symptoms more effectively but also to reclaim a sense of empowerment and hope.
