Laura Garison, M.Ed., LPC
I received my bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University in 2007 and my master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lamar University in 2020. I've enjoyed providing individual counseling in settings such as Community Counseling Associates of Allen, TX, Collin College Counseling Services, as well as facilitating grief groups through Journey of Hope. I've been a member in good standing with Texas Counseling Association since 2019 and I'm licensed in the State of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor, number 84104. Before becoming a counselor, I graduated with my BA in Political Science and worked as an executive assistant, finance assistant, and human resources generalist in several non-profits.
I believe every person can learn new strategies to live purposeful lives that make a difference in this world. I want to walk alongside clients as they identify their strengths and resources, explore problems, and implement solutions that will positively affect their lives. I know how difficult it can be to manage the stresses of life and I want to help you experience confidence that you can be present and in control when hard things happen.
Personally, I love volunteering weekly with my faith community, in particular mentoring and spending time with teens as they begin to figure life out! It gives me so much hope for the future. I also enjoy being outdoors, walking for fresh air and exercise, hanging out with my family, and grabbing a good beer with friends. Please reach out if you'd like to work together!
Why "Reframe?"
Life is full of difficulties and challenges, and our view of ourselves and our abilities helps shape our emotional experience. Sometimes, all it takes is a shift in perspective—a reframing of thoughts and emotions—to unlock new possibilities for growth and healing. The name "Reframe" reflects my commitment to helping you view challenges or situations from different angles, allowing you to break free from limiting beliefs and patterns.
Whether you're dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, or life transitions, my goal is to guide you toward a deeper understanding of yourself where you can see opportunities for change and growth, leading to a more fulfilling and balanced life. I'm here to help you see yourself differently—because sometimes, a renewed frame of mind can change everything.
If we have a virtual session, you may notice Skylar in the background. Skylar has no formal training to speak of but naturally excels at providing a calm, quiet presence. She's mainly here for the cat naps! Feel free to introduce me to your pets as well. (Skylar is NOT present at in-person sessions in my office.)
