Laura Garison, M.Ed., LPC
You've been holding it together for a while now, but you're thinking it might be time to get some outside support. This is when people usually find me, and I've been there myself! If you're struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions or the impact of past traumatic events, I'd love to walk alongside you and help you face these issues confidently. I provide trauma-informed therapy to help people reduce their symptoms and get back into their lives. I bring a warm, conversational approach to therapy and want to know your story. Supporting people of all identities and backgrounds is important to me and I seek consultation and continuing education to be as effective as possible.
I received my bachelor's degree from Texas Tech University in 2007 and my master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Lamar University in 2020. I've enjoyed providing individual counseling in settings such as Community Counseling Associates of Allen, TX, Collin College Counseling Services (where I currently work part-time with an amazing team of clinicians), as well as facilitating grief groups through Journey of Hope. I've been a member in good standing with Texas Counseling Association since 2019 and I'm licensed in the State of Texas as a Licensed Professional Counselor, number 84104.
I believe every person can learn new strategies to live purposeful lives that make a difference in this world. I want to walk alongside clients as they identify their strengths and resources, explore problems, and implement solutions that will positively affect their lives. I know how difficult it can be to manage the stresses of life and I want to help you experience confidence that you can be present and in control when hard things happen.
Personally, I love volunteering weekly with my faith community, in particular mentoring and spending time with teens as they begin to figure life out! It gives me so much hope for the future. I also enjoy being outdoors, running, hanging out with my family, and grabbing a good beer with friends. Please reach out if you'd like to work together!
